When a separate frontend project makes sense

A frontend-only engagement can suit a redesign, a new customer portal interface or a dashboard that connects to an existing system. We first confirm the design source, supported screen sizes and API responsibilities so that interface work is not confused with database or server development.

Information needed before development

Share your design files or references, branding assets, page list and API documentation. For logged-in interfaces, we need to understand session behavior, roles and the screens each role can access. Test data and a staging API help verify states without touching production records.

How frontend quality is reviewed

Review covers keyboard access, focus states, screen-size behavior, image dimensions and key interaction paths. Frontend handover should identify reusable components, setup instructions and the API endpoints the interface expects. We also check how the interface behaves when requests are slow or fail. Backend security rules, new API development and content creation are separate requirements unless included in scope.

Example brief: An existing customer portal

A frontend brief can include a customer dashboard, profile form, empty-record view and expired-session screen. Share a staging API contract and agree who resolves backend errors. Check keyboard use, narrow-screen layouts and the state after a failed request. These checks clarify frontend-only responsibilities.
